We are here to party hard

It's overcast and drizzly today. The perfect weather for being in bed and cuddling with someone (or something). But instead, I'm at work. C'est la vie, I guess? My husband and I went to have sushi for lunch at a Thai resturant downtown, but we sat there for fifteen minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us before we just got up and went to the diner next door. It wasn't really what I wanted, but it was food, so oh well. We'll be going somewhere else for sushi from now on - the service at that place is pretty hit or miss.

While we were at the diner eating our lunch, my husband and I were eavesdropping on a coversation a couple tables over where a man was talking about Scientology, and the controversy about protests by a group calling itself "Anonymous". In the comments section of one of the local paper's news stories about the protests and Scientology's response of lawsuits and restraining orders against people who may - or may not - be members of this group, was posted:

* Operation PARTY HARD * Is the name for the PEACEFUL worldwide protest against $cientology taking place this Saturday. Join anonymous. Everyone is welcome We represent people of all ages and from all walks of life. There will be delicious cake

They had me at "delicious cake".

I got two invitations from a former co-worker to events this weekend and early next week that I think I'm going have to pass on. I was asked if I wanted to go to the Ren-Fair on Sunday...and I do...but not with a bunch of people I don't know (which is what would happen). And then I was invited to a theme night at one of the local clubs on Monday night, but doors open at 10 PM and it's St. Patrick's Day!! How insanely packed will places be? Not to mention all of the obnoxious "special occassion" drunks. Plus, I have to work the next day - and I can't take the day off because I have a project due. So I'm just going to have to decline. Again. It makes me feel bad to always be saying no to these things. I also was invited to go have drinks after work with "the ladies" again. Pretty much the usual suspects. They want to try a new bar with cheaper drink prices and a younger, less easily offended crowd, and I told them I was up for whatever the group decided.

I have work to do, but it is so cold in the office I really can't concentrate. I want to go home and curl up in bed so bad right now.

Aw. Well at least drinks out with the office girls is something. Monday nights are baaaaaaaad drinking nights. How dare the Irish screw with us!

Can we go to Ren Fair? Is it leaving too soon? You said April?

I think it goes through the first weekend in April, so we'd have to do it the weekend you're coming out to my place, or the following weekend - which is the same time as the little guy's birthday.
