Stop the press, who is that?

The Dark Knight returns:

Check out the new Batsuit designed for the latest installment in the Batman series. Personally, Christian Bale could be wearing a burlap sack on-screen for two hours and I'd be transfixed. Did you know that David Boreanaz was at one point in consideration for the role - of course, so was Ashton Kutcher (*shudder* the role of Batman requires a little class and sex appeal, not smarmy pompousness!). Days before the role of Batman was cast, eight actors were asked to audition for the part. The actors were Christian Bale (of course!), Joshua Jackson (Pacy from Dawson's Creek -- WTF??), Eion Bailey, Hugh Dancy, Billy Crudup, Cillian Murphy, Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal (Bubble Boy, ha!). While Bale won the part, the director liked Murphy's audition so much, he cast him as Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow (which at one time Marilyn Manson was rumored to be considered for).

The mysterious part* to be played by Anthony Michael Hall is still blank on the IMDB page, but they do have some "trivia" posted. I especially like the idea of the first one...

As a joke, one bat suit was made with nipples. It was presented to Christian Bale as the real bat suit, but he knew instantly it was a joke, having seen a few design pictures during preproduction. He did pose for some publicity photos in the "nipple" suit. (at least it's not the great codpiece debate of some of the previous films - that was kind of ridiculous...)

When asked, "Why Heath Ledger as the Joker?" Christopher Nolan said, "Because he's fearless." (and he doesn't know how to quit you...)

Christian Bale had previously screen tested and was considered for the role of Robin in Batman Forever in 1995. (thank goodness he dodged that bullet...)

The Dark Knight is the first Batman film to not have "Batman" in the title. (Michale Keaton sez: "I'm Batman")

During the previous film, some of the crew had a quote from Christian Bale printed on the back of t-shirts: "It's hot, dark and sweaty and it gives me a headache." (!)

***************SPOILER****************

Some sources have been posting that AMH will play Edward Nygma. AKA, The Riddler.
