Today is Christopher Walken's birthday. He hosts this weekend's SNL, and I'm all kinds of jazzed about it. (Here are two of my favorite skits of all time: 'Ed Glosser - Trivial Psychic'...and also, a census taker once tried to test him...and his bobcat wife - all courtesy of Hulu, which is one of my new favorite things)
Speaking of things to be jazzed about, here's an article that features a handwritten geneaology of the Weasleys (and Luna Lovegood, for whatever reason) from JK Rowling...
Had a great time this weekend. On Saturday I went to see Horton Hears a Who in the theater with M and the boy. He was frozen in his seat for the duration of the movie, then when it was over leapt up and declared it "great". Then we went home and after I put my son to bed M and I watched Shaun of the Dead and Idiocracy while snacking and drinking homemade sangria and my own version of a Fuzzy Melon Ball. After my husband came home, he started to drink to catch up and we watched the repeat of SNL featuring Ellen Paige. Trust me - alcohol does not make the show any funnier. Then my husband went to bed while M and I stayed up to watch Beautiful Girls on cable until about five in the morning. We got up pretty late the next morning and went to a local steak place for lunch (and some really bad service from a borderline retarded waiter) before M had to head home.
The sangria was pretty good. I think I'll tweak the recipe a little and serve it during the cookout this weekend for my son's birthday. I had the day off today and spent it reading and lounging around. I have to work part of the week, but just here and there. We're planning on going to the beach on Friday. The weather is just about right for it right now.
Is that They Might Be Giants providing the song for the new Dunkin' Donuts commercial? There's the "Things I Like To Do" one, which I didn't realize was them, but there's also a new power walking one, which I can't find a good copy of on the 'Tube.
and the Fritalian one:

awwwww! I have no tv to watch Walken with! if you record it, I shall give you a dvd to burn it onto. I shall pay you. the list goes on.
It was a good time. my last stand before the end begins its rapid approach towards me. Thank you! you let me drink ze night away.
I cannot watch teh youtube. this makes me infinitely sad. only to be cured by some plans to party, details to come. (one for meeeeeee and one for youuuuuuuuuu).
It most definately is TMBG.
Willing to share Sangria recipe?
Sangria recipe (based on two recipes combined and tweaked):
1 bottle white wine of your choice (I used an inexpensive dry white)
3/4 cup peach vodka OR peach schnapps (I used the schnapps)
1/2 cup white sugar (to cut the bitterness of the wine - this is optional)
1 pound ripe white peaches, peeled, pitted and cut into wedges (I used both yellow and white peaches, diced - I recommend getting peaches that are very firm and not overly ripe)
1 cup fresh raspberries
(I also used red seedless grapes, halved, but they're not really necessary and didn't add anything to the sangria - I'll leave them out the next time)
Combine everything together in a pitcher, chill well, and stir before serving.
My margarita pitcher was only half full last time, so this time I'll probably double the recipe.
Let me know if you make it and how it turns out. I'll probably try my hand at a red sangria this summer. And I found out that there's an Italian version of Spanish sangria that involves a fizzy ingredient like soda water.
:(
Sad face...por que?
por que you no answer.
No answer what? I'm not sure I have the capacity to burn DVDs from my DVR hard drive. If your internet connection was better you could check it out on Hulu...
The fact that you can even continue to live without either functioning & reliable internet OR tv boggles my mind. I'm so incredibly weak-willed when it comes to my electronic media consumption and the (sometimes questionable) entertainment provided - I may not need it but I certainly WANT it. And boy do I pay for it...
the no money factor allows me not only to NOT pay for it, but not even to covet it.
no cable. no tv. no intranets. I have gone backwards in time.
soon, I'll be sporting a life vest and a skateboard with some tight-ass jeans.
